The legendary Chuck Chillout began his illustrious career on 98.7 Kiss-FM in 1982. Chuck Chillout was one of the first D.J.s to become world renowned & includes Run-DMC, LL Cool J, Salt-N-Pepa and Slick Rick. “Hip-hop was fun and energetic during this time. Hip-hop was just growing so there was a lot of creativity and great liver performances,” says Chuck about the hip-hop community in 1982. Chuck has been blazing new trails ever since, including becoming one of the first D.J.’s to play hip-hop music in Japan. Chuck’s affiliation with old and new school Hip-Hop and R&B has helped him land the title of one of today’s most sought after DJ’s. Most recently his participation in the Essence Music Festival & Cruise has escalated his career to new heights.
D.J. Hollywood’s career began in 1971. A native of Harlem, New York, he was one of the first dj’s to ever blend music with rhyme to help create what is now a billion dollar industry. His versatility is unsurpassed and he is known to be the foremost rhyme master on the microphone and treacherous on the wheels of steel, a phrase he coined, among others in the hip hop vernacular. He turned the world on its ear to the new art form that is now called Hip Hop when he was hired at Club 371 in the Bronx. D.J. Hollywood is a legend throughout the entertainment industry as well as locally as the ‘go to’ man whenever you want your party rocked and your affair to be memorable. D.J. Hollywood has brought joy to millions over the years and he isn’t through yet. He is truly in his words, “the best that ever did it who got away with it.”
David “Chief Rocker Busy Bee” Parker is the first solo MC and played himself in “Wild Style” a 1982 documentary about the Hip Hop scene. In 1981, Busy Bee and Kool Moe Dee made history with the first Battle in Hip Hop. “Old School” artists are seeing new life with the growth of the Hip-Hop industry and now the Chief Rocker is on tour luring new fans to the culture. Busy Bee’s fellow legends include KRS-One, Red Alert, Funkmaster Flex, De La Soul, DJ Kool Herc, and Melle Mel to name a few. Bee spends his time in the studio recording or on tour all over the world.
Mickey Bentson aka Mick Benzo owns and runs rap-oriented Pay Up Management. He was one of the founding members of the Zulu Nation, arguably the most important catalyst for hip hop. He has previously managed Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Melle Mel, Everland and Big Punisher, and he now manages Ice-T and Fat Joe.*
